EyePromise Restore: what is actually in it

Serving size: 2 softgels. One nutrient matches — and it is eight times the trial dose.

AREDS2 match: 1 of 6 nutrients

A broad ageing-eye formula built around omega-3 and B vitamins rather than the AREDS2 stack. Only zeaxanthin matches, and it overshoots: 16 mg against the trial's 2 mg. Lutein, at 8 mg, falls just short.

Against the AREDS2 trial

Nutrient AREDS2 daily dose This product Match
Vitamin C 500 mg 240 mg no
Vitamin E 400 IU 120 IU no
Zinc 80 mg 30 mg no
Copper 2 mg not present no
Lutein 10 mg 8 mg no
Zeaxanthin 2 mg 16 mg yes

AREDS2 daily doses: vitamin C 500 mg, vitamin E 268 mg (400 IU), zinc 80 mg, copper 2 mg, lutein 10 mg, zeaxanthin 2 mg.

What this means

30 mg of zinc with no copper anywhere on the panel. AREDS2 included 2 mg of copper specifically because zinc at this level can drive a copper deficiency and the anaemia that follows. This is a question worth putting to the manufacturer, not a verdict.
