MacuHealth Triple Carotenoid: what is actually in it
Serving size: 1 softgel. Three ingredients, two of them exact.
AREDS2 match: 2 of 6 nutrients
The original 10:10:2 formula: lutein, meso-zeaxanthin and zeaxanthin, nothing else. Lutein and zeaxanthin match the trial doses. There is no vitamin C, E, zinc or copper, so this is a carotenoid supplement rather than an AREDS2 replacement — which is what it is sold as.

What this means
Meso-zeaxanthin is not one of the six AREDS2 nutrients and was not tested in that trial. It appears in the macular pigment, and the formula's own evidence base is a separate set of studies. Not a weakness — just a different claim, and it should be read as one.
